When staying at a homestay you must observe the following:

● Behave respectfully towards the host and family

● Respect the house rules as laid down by the host/hostess.

For example: mealtimes, tidiness, and smoking

● Give host advance notice of your movements. E.g. notify them if you will not be home for the evening meal, or if you are going out what time you can be expected back.

● Do not consume alcohol while staying in homestay accommodation

● Do not bring any illegal substances into the home

● Pay for any damage caused by negligent or irresponsible behaviour

● Ensure you return the key on the last day of the course before you leave the premises.

Homestay covers accommodation and meals for weekdays - breakfast and evening meal, weekends - breakfast, lunch and evening meals.

● Accommodation is available on a first in first served basis.

● On occasion students may be required to share a room when all single room accommodation has been allocated. Places will be allocated on a first booked basis.

● Should you leave your course early, it is at the discretion of the Accommodation Liaison and Homestay provider whether a refund will be considered.

● If you request a seven day a week board but then decide to go away for the weekend, there is no refund except in exceptional circumstances and only with the approval of the Accommodation Liaison.

● Refunds will not be issued if homestay request is cancelled by apprentices less than 7 days prior to arrival.

GGINZ provides access to a Accommodation Liaison solely as a support service to assist learners in sourcing accommodation during off-job training.

The Accommodation Liaison operates independently and is not an employee, contractor, or representative of GGINZ, and has no authority to act on behalf of GGINZ.

All accommodation arrangements, including provider selection, communications, transactions, and negotiations, are conducted directly between the agent, the learner, and/or the accommodation provider. GGINZ is not a party to any such arrangements and accepts no responsibility or liability for any accommodation provided, including but not limited to quality, safety, suitability, or any disputes arising.

From a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) perspective, GGINZ’s responsibility is limited to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of learners while they are engaged in GGINZ-delivered training activities. Accommodation arrangements fall outside of GGINZ’s operational control. As such, learners are responsible for assessing the suitability and safety of any accommodation they choose and for raising any concerns directly with the accommodation provider or agent.

GGINZ provides this conduit in good faith to support learners and make the logistics of attending off-job training more accessible; however, learners engage with the agent and accommodation providers at their own discretion and are responsible for undertaking their own due diligence.
